I feel the all the hype around Opus One is due to the fact that it has become a brand more than a wine, like Louis Vuitton or Gucci. You have the same or maybe better quality with the half-priced Chadwick from Errazuriz. This is a good wine, a very good wine, and will improve with age, but I want to be very frank: it costs way too much.

The tannins need still some time, but they will eventually show their class. Opus one harvested relatively early (end of september) and managed to avoid the October heat wave, producing quite an elegant styled wine (which bears anyway the California mark in the aromas and mouthfeel).
